Wolverhampton Compact Frequently Asked Questions
How can the Compact work for my organisation?
The Compact is for everybody working in partnership in the City of Wolverhampton, whether you are a small community group or a statutory service provider. The Compact document is based on 10 principles of working together. The 6 codes of practice are in place to help with more detailed guidance of good working practice around specific issues. If organisations are working to Compact principles and codes then the Compact is working for them. If you feel that one of your partners is not working in a Compact compliant way, then there are steps you can go through, written in the dispute resolution process, to help you to work through the issues and to help the partnership move forward. The only way that the Compact can work for any organisation is by that organisation using the Compact!
How can my organisation get involved?
If your organisation has the capacity to nominate a Compact Champion, this is a good way to ensure that someone is aware of what is happening in the world of Compact implementation. We have a dedicated website – with up-to-date news and all Compact documents. We have an article in the Voice newsletter. We have an annual Compact event during National Compact Week in November. You can send off for one of our Discs which contains information for you to do your own presentation with your organisation and other supporting documents on the Compact.
Why should I sign-up to the Wolverhampton Compact?
Why not? The Compact is an agreement which is a reference to be cited and followed. It can be used to hold each other to account, ensuring through compliance mechanisms that we stick to what we signed up to do. It is a way of working – the Wolverhampton Compact is a living document for building relations that change how partners behave, engage and work together at and individual, organisational and partnership level. If we use the Compact, sign-up to it, hold each other to account and ensure that we work to the principles and codes of practice, then we can maximise our collective effectiveness to deliver the best outcomes for communities in the city. That has got to be worth signing up to!
What do I do if I think things have gone wrong in our partnership?
